Bringing Everyday Sammamish Voices Back to City Hall
About Me
I’m Jisha Govin, and I’m running as a write-in candidate for Sammamish City Council, Position No. 1
I have called Sammamish home since 2016 and am proud to raise my family here on the plateau. With a degree in Computer Science, I have over eight years of experience in software development and more than a decade in program and product management, including my most recent role as a Product Manager at Amazon.
Beyond my professional background, I’m a wife, and the mother of two teenagers (and two dogs).
Why am I running?
Simply put, I am running for City Council because I believe the current council does not represent the wishes and aspirations of Sammamish residents. I want a council that will be the voice of its residents, and I am running to make that happen. Read more here
I am running alongside three like-minded candidates: Josh Amato (Position 3), Michael Boyer (Position 5) and Debbie Treen (Position 7).
What does it mean to be a write-in candidate?
As a write-in candidate, my name will NOT appear in the voter pamphlet or on the ballot. However, I am registered with King County elections as a candidate for Sammamish City Council Position 1 and voters can vote for me by writing in my name on the ballot. How to cast a write-in vote.
Why am I running as a write-in candidate?
I decided to run for City Council recently, after speaking with hundreds of residents who feel the current council isn’t responsive to their concerns. Although it’s too late to be listed in the voter pamphlet or ballot, I’m stepping forward now because waiting two more years could allow the council to make changes that would permanently alter the character of the city I love.
